Are you struggling with how to share your business idea and artistic talent? Events First Talent and Management group started off just like that back in 2011. A small group of friends passionate about the vast wealth of artistic talent in Solomon Islands and want to let the world know and recognize it. In one of our informal meetings, we identified the need to create a platform dedicated to expose and promote these talents and make it a value as long as it enhance active participation in local communities.
It wasn't an easy road, a story that is similar to you as a young entrepreneur trying to come up with an idea with no capital and resource. Our window to the world and discovering the beauty and power of social media was from a cheap Nokia phone that was affordable and easy to use. Our first "conference room" was what we fondly referred to as "grassland" - a grassy patch under the shade of a palm tree by the road outside Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC). A convenient and affordable choice we made and it took us two years to get out from there - now we can reflect and smile but the truth is all our plans, vision and objectives came out from "grassland" meetings.
Having plans is one but facing the reality that we needed support and courage is one of the biggest chapter in our struggle for recognition and respected as entrepreneurs. This road test true friendship and it made us understand the value of being open-minded, creative, loyal, trustworthy and respect. Venturing into business comes with sacrifice you have to take between family and friends when it comes to time and priorities. In challenging times, you will find your true friends and caring family are the only ones who will still believe in your vision. Believe it, do it, achieve it is the best summary of all the advices we have received from our experience.
With perseverance and endurance, it led us to formally register as Events First and established on 11.11.11.
Among the many projects we have in mind, working and helping young talented youths in different areas of interest is our priority. At first we build our business around them but as we progress on we are giving it back to them through sponsorship of youth initiatives.
Six years on we continue and survive as one of Solomon Islands event planning and management company. We are happy to explore the world of entrepreneurship in the midst of all challenges and we cannot forget how it all started.
